During
the consultation appointment Dr. Wittenberg will discuss with you the
possible treatment options. It is important that you have a written
list of questions for the doctor, though you can ask him the questions
which are important for you. This list is very helpful, because it is
very easy to forget your questions during the consultation process.
Dr. Wittenberg will ask you about your main concerns and will also perform
an evaluation of your face. Using your concerns and the findings of
the examination, the possible treatment plan for you will be discussed.
Dr. Wittenberg will describe to you the possible surgery with the incisions,
the area of improvement and the risks and benefits. The information
you received is probably overwhelming at first, but don't be frustated,
if you have questions after the consultation, you can call or return
for a second appointment. Also the possible preoperative blood
tests, X-rays and EKG will be discussed with you. We like you to bring
a friend for the consultation appointment. This makes you more comfortable
and often your friends are asking valuable questions. We also show you
pre and postoperative pictures of patients, which were treated with
a similiar procedure. Financial questions will also be discussed during
this appointment if you wish so. We
usually require the full payment of the surgical fee on the day of surgery.
The consultation appointment allows you also to see our office and the
operating room.
It
is important to keep in mind that the consultation is there for you
to have questions answered and to get familiar with Dr. Wittenberg and
to see if he is the doctor you can trust with the surgery. The feeling
of confidence in your doctor is very important for both of you. During
the visit you will also get familiar with our staff. With our staff
you will be able to discuss questions, and often times the patient may
feel more comfortable asking the trained staff questions instead of
the doctor.
Please,
call us or come back for another consultation, if you still have unanswered
questions after your first visit.
